A 21-year-old driver was critically injured when his car slammed into the facade of a house in Sint-Lievens-Houtem, East Flanders, during the night of Friday 31 July to Saturday 1 August. The East Flanders prosecutor's office confirmed the accident.

The crash happened on the Polbroek, where the car reportedly flew out of a bend and hit the front wall of a home. According to initial findings, excessive speed was probably the cause.

The driver sustained life-threatening injuries. No further details about his condition have been released, and it is not yet known whether anyone else was involved in the incident.
